A Summer Memory Keeping Solution with Candace Perkins

You’re probably busy enjoying the start of your summer, but have you thought about how you’re going to document it? Candace Perkins is with us today to share the perfect solution: a summer Memorydex with cards created from the Summer Journaling Tags and June reveal items! Let’s see her fun project!

Hello friends & happy summer! I am so happy to be back with you today sharing a fun project using the new Summer Journaling Tags along with goodies from the new June arrivals! These two collections of tags coordinate perfectly and are all ready to hold all your summer stories!

To start, I printed out a bunch of summer memories I wanted to include in my summer Memorydex. Next, I used the Memorydex dies to die cut a few patterns from the Sunny Days 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack along with a few journaling tags.

After all of my cards and photos were ready, I just played! Yea! I went through my embellishments, cards and photos and just started mixing and matching. So often in scrapbooking we feel pressure to “design” and “balance”. It was so fun to just sit, play, create and capture memories!

Supplies | June KitSummer Journaling Tags, Acrylic Summer Shapes,  Puffy Heart Stickers, Pink Puffy Alphabet StickersLetter and Number Stickers – Black, Sunny Days 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack
On my title card I used one of the Summer Journaling Tags along with the black Letter and Number Stickers and Acrylic Summer Shapes.

The second card is a mix of Summer Journaling Tags and die cuts from the June Kit. To add a little more interest and dimension I used foam squares along with the tiny attacher staples to adhere my photos.

I adore the little popsicle journaling tag that was perfect to document summer treats.

We do a lot of grilling during the summer so I was so excited to see this journaling tag! (And how cute is that little grill?!)

For this card I die cut a 4″ x 6″ tag, then adhered another 3″ x 4″ tag layered with die cuts. I love that all the sentiments on the June Kit die cuts. A summer match made in heaven!

I think I need a million more of these summer tags from the June Kit! This is what summer is all about! I layered a few tags together to add additional color and interest and topped it all off with more Acrylic Summer Shapes.

My happy place… in a swimsuit, next to water, but not in it …LOL. No project is complete without a Puffy Heart Sticker!

Next, I created an envelope out of patterned paper from the Sunny Days collection. I used the Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers to add “notes” to the front of the envelope that holds more summer memories and notes.

Tucked inside the envelope are more 3×4 cards trimmed slightly and embellished with HOT summer memories!

This was such a fun project to create! I am so happy that I have all these memories captured and because it is in the Memorydex I can add more as the summer goes on!

What summer memories will you capture and document this year? Have fun!

Title Builder with Maggie Massey

We were so excited for the launch of our new Title Builder products, but even more exciting is seeing what our design team is creating with them! Let’s take a look at the stunning page that Maggie Massey created.

Hey everyone! It’s Maggie back again with a look at a page I’ve created using the BRAND NEW Title Builder Bundle!

Seriously—where have these products been my whole life?

With just the words & phrases available in the Title Builder Stamp, you can create a TON of titles for every kind of page imaginable! Add in the Title Builder Alphabet Stamp, the Wood Veneer, and Acrylic, then BOOM! You’re set for anything!

Supplies | Title Builder Bundle, Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, Live Laugh Love Enamel Dots, Puffy Heart Stickers

I started my page knowing that I wanted to add a number of photos; each one a different part of my story. I printed and punched each one and then punched out white cardstock & patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack as well, to act as mattes for the pictures.

Then I moved the photos around until I was happy with their arrangement.

Next, I got started on my title. This was the fun part.

I wrote down a number of possible combinations before I got started stamping and when I found a combination I loved, I inked up my stamps and set to work! I knew where I wanted the title to be on my page, but I wasn’t exactly sure how I wanted it to look. So I stamped the first word—CAPTURING—in black with a pink shadow, and just went from there. Using different stamping techniques, like shadowing, and different stamp pad colors, like the ombre pad I used for the word “YOU” makes for such an amazing title, which you can vary from layout to layout!

I figured if I didn’t like the way something looked, I could just start over. But I didn’t have to! I love the way my title turned out and I love how the different typefaces, sizes, and textures of the words give my page a fun, eclectic look.

And the hardest part was choosing which of the amazing titles I wanted to use…

Challenge Day

Welcome to the June edition of Challenge Day here on the Elle’s Studio blog! Every month, we will be issuing challenges to join in on and inspire you to create, with a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Elle’s Studio shop for each challenge winner! The more you submit, the better chance you have at winning. Let’s get started with this month’s challenges.

Get Dimensional | Take a cue from Jill Sprott’s layout using the June Kit + extras and add dimension and texture to your page with your embellishment. We love how Jill used string to tie together all of her wood veneer, die cuts and acrylic pieces!

“Inspired By” | Choose an item from any of our Elle’s Studio exclusive kits, whether it be a die-cut or a tag, like the one Meghann Andrew used from our June 2017 Kit, to inspire your entire page!

Create a Bold Title | Whether stamped or selected from your stash, make your title the focus of your page, like Jamie Leija did here with the Stanley Solid and Outline Alphabet Stamps to create her travel-documented page, “Nothing Good Ever Happens in Barcelona.”

Use a Split-Complementary Color Scheme | Choose a color on the color wheel, and the colors on either side of its opposite, or complementary color, to create a stunning page, like Neela Nalam did here with her pocket page using the June Kit + extras!

Sketch Challenge | Use this sketch, inspired by Jen Chapin’s “Smile” layout, to create a project of your own! This sketch is perfect for 8-1/2″ x 11″ pages, as Jen created, 12″ x 12″, or even a card!

Documenting Foodie Adventures with Guest Krista Wells

Today we welcome our June guest designer, Krista Wells, back to the blog! If you follow her on Instagram, you’ve probably been a bit envious of her food adventures, and today she’s documenting a dinner date + dessert using the June Kit and new add-ons. Let’s take a look at what she created!
Anyone who knows me knows that I love food! I like to eat it, to take pictures of it and to scrapbook it. Today I wanted to share a couple of pocket page layouts that I created using the June Kit + the Live Laugh Love Collection to document food photos.
First up: One of our favourite meals in NYC last summer was at Samm Bar. The Pork Belly buns are worth the flight to the island of Manhattan.

Supplies | June Kit, Tiny Star Stickers, Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, Jonah Alphabet Stamp
I kept it simple with this layout, going with a monochromatic spread for the most part with tiny pops of yellow. In the top photo I used the Jonah Alphabet Stamp and some Brilliance white ink to stamp ‘date night’ onto my photo.

For the middle pocket on the left I chopped a larger piece of black and white heart patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack to a 3″ x 4″ tag before adding two of Samm Bar’s business cards – a front side and a back side copy. On the right, I just slipped in a photo.

In the bottom slots I added a photo of those delicious pork belly buns on the left and I added my journaling to this ‘current mood’ journaling card on the computer before putting it in the slot. I used the tip of my finger and a little yellow ink to stamp the happy face on the card.

After dinner comes dessert, so I thought, why not give you a little dessert to go with those Pork Belly buns?!
While in NY with my best friend D we made a pit stop at Il Labratorio De Gelato. It was worth the visit, and the calories!

Supplies | June KitCork TabsLive Laugh Love CutoutsPatriotic Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic, Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic, Sky Blue Puffy Alphabet Stickers
In the top pocket on the left I added a couple of the small die cuts from the June Kit to a business card from the gelato shop. On the right I added a Cork Tab with ‘current fav’ on it.

In the middle I had a cute photo of our gelato, topped with a blue and yellow acrylic hearts from the Patriotic Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic and Stars and Hearts Mixed Acrylic. I love those acrylic pieces! On the right I printed my journaling on a teal tag from the June Kit!

At the bottom I added a little label from the Live Laugh Love Cutouts to the centre of the 4″ x 6″ photo before adding ‘YUM’ using the puffy alpha stickers. Those guys are the perfect size for pocket pages!

This post seems like it has been a mini food guide to NYC! I hope you got a few ideas for scrapbooking those food photos you might have, and if you are ever in New York add these two spots to your ‘to eat’ list!

Everyday Adventures-Inspired with Tessa Buys

We are loving the feedback that we’ve received from the Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class, and today we’re lucky to have Tessa Buys back on the blog with us to share more of her class-inspired traveler’s notebook; as well as give us tips on how to use up the paper scraps from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack in our mini albums!
Hello, Elle’s Studio friends! I’m back with more pages from my Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class-inspired traveler’s notebook. In my first post, I shared how I used the Everyday Adventures Product Bundle to create pages about my adventures in being a mom, and today I’m sharing how to use every scrap to create unique pages.

Supplies | Everyday Adventures Stamp Set & Digital Files (exclusive to the class), Black Puffy Alphabet StickersJonah Alphabet StampEveryday Adventures Product Bundle, which includes: Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper StackLive Laugh Love Wood VeneersLive Laugh Love Double-Sided Journaling TagsLive Laugh Love Washi Tape StickersLive Laugh Love Bits and Pieces, Live Laugh Love Puffy StickersLive Laugh Love Enamel Dots, Wood Veneer Stars
I love the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. It’s a great size for a travelers notebook, and after you’ve trimmed the papers to size, the leftover pieces can creatively be used to create more layouts. For example, I had two narrow pieces left in these teal polka-dot and gray star papers. I cut each one into strips and then overlapped the strips across the page spread, bordering my photo.

On this page spread, I used more leftover strips to create side borders. The wide striped pattern of the paper made this technique especially fun.

On these pages, I didn’t use a bit of patterned paper. Instead, I aligned all my photos to the center and filled in spaces with labels, die cuts, and a border Live Laugh Love Puffy Sticker cut in half.

I love the  Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Stickers, and to make them go farther, I cut them into pieces. Some I cut in half long-wise to create narrow strips.

Layered together, and stamped over with the class’ exclusive stamp set, The grouping of tapes make a great top and bottom border on this page.

Thanks for checking out more of my Everyday Adventures-inspired travelers notebook and have a creative day!

A Field Trip Pocket Page with Andrea Gray

Sometimes instead of covering a week or a month, a pocket page spread can be useful for capturing multiple photos from a single event. Today Andrea Gray is sharing how she documented a school trip using the June Kit and extras, and we love the result! Let’s take a look.
Summer is almost here and I can already smell the grills and the sunshine! The June Kit from Elle’s Studio is perfect for documenting those fun outdoor memories! This month’s kit is full of fun journaling tags that are perfect for your pockets so in this post I’ll show you some fun things to do with them.

Supplies | June Kit, May KitPuffy Heart StickersWhite Puffy Alpha Stickers, Hello Sunshine StampStanley Alpha Stamp – Outline, Stanley Alpha Stamp – SolidEveryday Adventures Class StampSights and Sounds Stamp
I always begin with photos and I am using these fun pictures from a field trip with my 3rd grader and his class. The colors from the photos include greens, blues and reds so I selected tags and die cuts that coordinated.

I’ll get right into the finished tags and then we’ll talk about fun things you can do with each of them!

I love using the 4″ x 6″ tags to make titles, especially when the whole spread is a single event. I used the new Stanley solid and outline alphabet stamps to make a title, then added some other words in my own handwriting. Sometimes just adding a cluster or two of stamps can brighten up a tag. I used the plus sign cluster from the Everyday Adventures Class Stamp along with the “love this” sentiment on a plain notebook paper tag. It’s simple, but it makes a statement.

Sometimes you just need a filler card with no photos or words. So I stapled the blue tab and a die cut yellow star to the green striped tag from the June Kit to add color and balance. It does its job for sure! The “FOR THE RECORD” tag is so perfect for listing some facts about the day. The third one here started out with just the red label. I added the word BUS with the White Puffy Alpha Stickers and stamped hello vertically to add interest (and because I didn’t have space the other way). Getting creative with word placement is always fun!

This 4″ x 6″ tag is busy with all those colorful stripes so I opted for a black & white photo and a simple cluster of a yellow tab from the June Kit, Puffy Heart Stickers and a simple sentiment from the Sights and Sounds Stamp. Sometimes less can be more! The TODAY tag was fun because adding random items straight down the middle made me so happy! With a tag as open as this one, you have so much freedom. The white space leaves plenty of room for a 2″ x 2″ photo, or a good chunk of journaling, but I decided to have some fun with die cuts from the June Kit and the Sights and Sounds Stamp!

The last one here is the “currently” card from the kit. I loved adapting it to what I was doing during this trip instead of the typical “right now” things of life. For an event like this, nailing down those details can be so important and often missed!

I hope you’ve seen some ideas for ways to use the tags from the June Kit! I love them for pocket pages because they are crazy cute and super versatile!
See you next month!

Explore Utah Lake (and a Process Video) with Jen Schow

The colors in the June kit are so versatile—we’ve seen baseball games, Disney trips and carnival rides documented by our team this month! Today, Jen Schow is focusing on the yellows, blues and greens in the kit to scrapbook beautiful outdoor scenery, just proving that any subject can be documented with our new products. Let’s take a look at her page.

Hey there, it’s Jen Schow here to share a layout and process video using the new June kit + extras! I love all of the blues, greens, and yellows this month and decided to focus on those colors for this layout about Utah Lake.

Supplies | June Kit, Puffy Heart StickersHello Sunshine Stamp, Everyday Adventures Class Stamp, Explore Acrylic, White Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Acrylic Summer Shapes, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

I cut up a few of the kit journaling tags, using the striped tag as a mat for the photo, and turned the “yes to” tag into a die cut. I love the versatility of these tags!

I added some stamped phrases using the Hello Sunshine and Everyday Adventures Stamps, and mixed in Puffy Heart Stickers with all of die cuts and a few paint splatters as well.

You can see how the whole layout came together in the process video below!
