Perfecting the Pockets with Maggie Massey

We love seeing our exclusive tags in your pocket page layouts, and now with the new Family Fun collection available in the shop to fill your pockets and coordinate with our monthly kit, the design options are endless! Today Maggie Massey is sharing a new pocket page on the blog today, and telling us how she pulls her pages together! Let’s take a look.
Hello, hello everyone! It’s Maggie here with a look at a pocket page I created recently using this month’s kit + extras – and a few pieces from the brand new Family Fun Collection!

Supplies | September Kit, Autumn Wood Veneer Words, Thankful Sticker Labels, Autumn Sequins, Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags, Family Fun Bits & Pieces, Stanley Number Stamp
Whenever I have more than one or two photos to scrap for an event, I always turn to using a pocket page layout for my documenting. The Elle’s Studio exclusive kits are just perfect for this!
I start by printing out the photos I’d like to use, and arrange them on my pocket page protector.

Next, I go through my September 2017 Kit tags (and, in this case, the new Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags), adding the ones I like and moving them around until I get the layout I like best.

Then, I add my journaling. It’s fun to throw in some stamping too, like I did here with the Stanley Number Stamp.

Finally, I embellish the cards one at a time, until they are all completed and I’m happy with the outcome!
Now, because I like to use mainly 3″ x 4″ photos and tags in my pages, and, because I don’t have any pocket protectors that have spaces for only 3″ x 4″ tags, I will adhere my tags to a 4″ x 6″ piece of copy paper so that they don’t move around in the page’s 4″ x 6″ pockets. It works perfectly!

As with my scrapbook layouts, I like to keep my pocket pages on the simple side – not too cluttered or embellished. Just a few little pieces here and there are enough for me, and the punch apart die cuts included in the September Kit are perfect for these little finishing touches.

Thank you so much for taking a look at my page. I hope I’ve inspired you to create a little something in a pocket today!

Happy Family with Daniela Dobson

Thanks to the new Family Fun collection, you have another choice of product when documenting those special moments with the ones you love, and today Daniela Dobson is with us to share a beautiful multi-photo page that does just that, with the Title Builder stamp to help her create her title! Let’s take a look.
Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog! It’s Daniela here, highlighting how well the new Family Fun Collection and Title Builder Stamp pair together on a fun and colorful layout all about my family!

Supplies | Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags, Family Fun Blank LabelsFamily Fun Bits and Pieces, Family Fun Puffy Stickers, Family Fun Acrylic, Family Fun Stamp, Family Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, Title Builder Stamp, Live Laugh Love EnameI Dots
I used a set of 6″ square photos from our trip to the zoo for an evening concert. The Family Fun collection has several triangle or bunting shapes in the Bits and Pieces and that inspired me to arrange the photos in the triangle. The photos are layered over one of the 4″ x 6″ Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags—they really can be used for so much more than journaling!

The large “family” die cut from the Bits and Pieces was perfect for the title of my page next to “happy” from the Title Builder Stamp.

I created a little collection of labels and die cuts in the lower right corner to give my journaling a home, along with some stamped phrases from the Title Builder Stamp. To finish off my page, I scattered Live Laugh Love EnameI Dots, Family Fun Acrylic, Family Fun Puffy Stickers and those fun stamped plus signs from the Title Builder Stamp all over the page.
Be sure to share your layouts created with the Title Builder Stamp and Family Fun collection to Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio ! We’d love to see what you’re creating!

Blue-Green Balance with Candace Perkins

Sometimes two beautiful colors is all you need to pull a pocket page spread together, and today Candace Perkins is showing us how pairing only blue and turquoise with neutrals can create the perfect, balanced pocket page layout. Let’s see what she made!
Hello friends! Welcome back! It’s Candace with you to share week one of my 2017 pocket pages. Now, I am not this far behind! What I like to do is print out my photos weekly and stick them in the pockets. Then, when I find the perfect tags and embellishments I complete the spread. I like this format because it keeps things interesting and fresh. It also cuts down on the time it takes me to complete the spread by having the photos all printed and ready to go!
Now, for this weeks spread. I used the photos as the color inspiration for the spread. I built my spread with dark blues, mint, gray and wood grain.

Supplies | September 2017 Kit, Acrylic Buttons, Foodie Puffy Stickers, Foodie Journaling Tags, Family Fun Double-sided Journaling Tags, Family Fun Puffy Stickers, Family Fun StampTravelogue Journaling TagsDated Stamp
I started with the title card for the week and stamped this weeks dates with black StazOn ink, using the Dated Stamp. To bring a little color to the card I added a blue puffy sticker from the Family Fun collection.

I love the two tags on the left side of the spread that leave a little spot for a 2″ x 2″ photo and journaling. This allowed me to add more photos and words to my spread. My favorite tag on the left side of the spread is definitely the world map 4″ x 6″ tag (swoon) from the Travelogue Journaling Tags.

The color and map are just perfection and there is even a small spot to add notes! I marked on the map where my husband went that week for business along with a photo collage.

On the right side of the spread I balanced the colors by adding a few blue elements like the blue star Acrylic Button and the “love my family” blue Family Fun Double-sided Journaling Tag along with a gray journaling tag from the Foodie Journaling Tags in the center.
To add a interest to the Acrylic Button I weaved a bit of white embroidery floss through the holes.

I love the look and contrast of the Foodie Puffy Stickers on top of my candy photo!

One of my favorite parts to include in my weekly spread is memorabilia. This week I included a picture my little guy drew for me. For my journaling I used the Family Fun Stamp as a title and ran the journal card through the typewriter.

This was such a fun spread to put together and all the new items from Elle’s Studio were the perfect match! Make sure you stop by the shop to pick up the new Family Fun Collection & September Kit and extras! Have a beautiful day!

A “Sweet” Story with Guest Tracey Fox

Today we’re welcoming Tracey Fox back to the blog. After the amazing balloon inspired layout that she shared with us last week, we can’t wait to see what she has to share with us today—but it may leave you a bit hungry for something sweet! Let’s see what she created.
I’m super excited to be back to share another project I made with the versatile September 2017 Kit and extras! For this 12″ x 12″ layout, I combined various circular and arrow-shaped elements from the September Kit, along with the Foodie Stamp and Foodie Puffy Stickers to document the story of the Ms. Pac-Man cookies my husband made for our friends’ bridal shower.

Supplies | September 2017 Kit, Date Night Stamp, Wood Veneer Borders, Foodie Stamp, Foodie Puffy Stickers, Title Builder Stamp, Title Builder Alphabet Stamp, Live Laugh Love Washi Tape Stickers, Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection
To create this page, I used my favorite grid paper from the Live Laugh Love 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection as a background, and I created a band across the top of the layout with a 4″ x 6″ photo and some of the 3″ x 4″ tags from the kit. I just LOVE how the “Start Here” tag from the kit incorporated both a circle and an arrow, since I had already decided to repeat those shapes on the page, and I also enjoyed using all of the little spaces on the tag with the Foodie Puffy Stickers and stamped sentiments from the Foodie Stamp, Date Night Stamp, and Title Builder Alphabet Stamp that went with the theme of my story.

On the hearts 3″ x 4″ tag, I typed my journaling using a typewriter, and the “The Story” 4″ x 6″ tag made a perfect foundation for a page title, which I finished with stamps from the Title Builder Stamp and Title Builder Alphabet Stamp.

For the bottom of the page, I decided to have fun with the die cuts from the September 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer Borders, Foodie Puffy Stickers, and Foodie Stamp. I punched two of my photos and a few of the other 3″ x 4″ tags into circles and laid all of the items out on the page in a way that had a loose resemblance to a Pac-Man screen. I love how these circular and arrow-shaped elements create a video game feel against the grid design of the background paper. And that “nom nom nom” stamp couldn’t have been any more perfect!

Thanks for taking a look at how I used Elle’s Studio ingredients to document this sweet story on my cookie-themed layout! If you haven’t snagged a kit yet, make sure to grab the September 2017 Kit and the delicious Foodie products to document your own food adventures!

Switching Things Up with Andrea Gray

Sometimes you just need to switch things up a bit to push your creativity, and today Andrea Gray is with us to share a fun, new page in a different size using the Family Fun collection! Let’s see what she created.
Oh Family Fun! What an awesome collection! The colors and sentiments are the perfect jumping off point for all kinds of documenting. I had this cute picture of my nine-year-old and the colors in his shirt and hat were a perfect match with Family Fun so I ran with all the colors! The 6″ x 12″ layout size is new to me, but turns out it’s similar to the space of a traveler’s notebook, just bigger!

Supplies | September 2017 KitFamily Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags, Family Fun Bits and Pieces, Family Fun Cutouts, Family Fun Blank Labels, Family Fun Puffy StickersFamily Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection
Layering is something I am always struggling with, so I want to practice more and more. Since I couldn’t decide on only a few die cuts and items to use, I figured this was a good place to work on improving my skills! I tucked a 3″ x 4″ journaling tag from the September 2017 Kit under the photo, along with a Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tag and torn paper from the Family Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, then added the “love this smile” Family Fun Cutout, the Family Fun Bits and Pieces and the light blue Family Fun Blank Label.

A heart always belongs on a layout, so this one from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces went best here, where so I could continue creating the visual triangle of clusters.

At the bottom I added a nice big chunk of goodies, including the “currently” tag from the Family Fun Double-Sided Journaling Tags, puffy stars from the Family Fun Puffy Stickers and die cuts from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces that pop right off the page! I used staples within each little cluster to help them feel connected on this long and stretched out page.

The layering was so fun and easy to do with the variety in the Family Fun collection and I love how this layout came out!

Until next time, happy documenting!

Home Sweet Home Mini Album + Process Video with Jamie Leija

One thing we love about Family Fun is how many different subjects you can document with this collection. From loved ones to special places, you will love telling your stories with these products! Today, Jamie Leija is with us to share a special mini album all about her new home, and she’s included a process video, too! Let’s take a look.

Hiya! It’s Jamie, and today I’m so excited to share my latest favorite project, a mini pocket page album all about the first year in our new home. I had no idea when I started this project that I would love it this hard! Or that it would come together so quickly.

I decided to use a 6″ x 8″ album and divided page protectors for this project. Once I printed my photos, it was so easy to slip them in pockets and then embellish throughout. My title page is a double page, with one 6″ x 8″ and one 3″ x 8″ page protector. I love the pop of color that the awesome chevron patterned paper from the Family Fun 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection adds to the front of the album.

The next page was a photo collage of all of the photos pulled from the online listing of the house and then printed onto vellum, then topped with the “home sweet home” die cut from the Family Fun Bits and Pieces. Just something extra for visual interest!

I used a mix of products from the Family Fun collection but mainly the Journaling Tags, Puffy Stickers and Bits and Pieces.

The photos themselves are fairly neutral, which is why it was so much fun to utilize the great range of colors in the Family Fun collection! I always love a good rainbow stripe!

I put together a process video to show the start to this album. I did zero pre-planning before sitting down to film this. I had my photos and the page protectors and the collection—that was it. I started by sorting my photos into an order I thought would work, mainly dividing them up by room. Then I added in journaling tags. After that I went back and embellished. You’ll see all of this in the video below.

After filming, I went tag by tag and wrote out my journaling, then finalized the embellishment. I ended up with quite a bit of journaling, which is one of the reasons why I’m loving this project so much. I said a lot and still have more to say! Stay tuned for updates about this album. You’ll notice I only worked on the first 10 pages. I’ve already added additional photos and pages!

One Product, Three Ways: Foodie Stamp

With so many new, fun products in the shop this month, it was difficult to choose only one product for September’s “One Product, Three Ways” post! After some thought, and maybe a rumble in our bellies, we chose the Foodie Stamp—the perfect product to document our gastronomical adventures! Today we have Jill Sprott, Laura Hager and Nancy Damiano showing us how they used their stamp! Let’s take a look at their projects.

Jill Sprott | My daughter is currently eating her way through Italy, and what better way to document her first few culinary adventures in Florence than with the Elle’s Studio Foodie stamp? I created a border using several of the stamps from the set, repeating the sentiments on each side of the page and working in red and green — the colors of Italy’s flag, as well as of fresh basil and juicy tomatoes — here and there.

I pulled together the photos at the center of the page and backed them with red and green patterns and labels. The entire layout is a celebration of the food culture of Florence and of my daughter’s foodie dreams come true.

Laura Hager | I love trying new food! I was so excited to see the new Foodie Stamp set. I couldn’t wait to use it. My mom and I had been talking about making a special spaghetti sauce with my grandma, so we planned a spaghetti party day! My grandma came over to supervise us making the sauce. While the sauce simmered, we played cards and chatted. It was so fun! And so yummy! I love having special family recipes and this is definitely one of those recipes. This stamp set was released at the perfect time to use it for my spaghetti party!

I’ve said it before, but stamping is my favorite technique for scrapbooking. I started my page by finding the perfect paper. I used a 3″ x 4″ tag from the September 2017 Kit and a grid patterned paper from the Family Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. Then, I added the Pink Puffy Alphabet Stickers. After that, I found my favorite sayings and images from the Foodie Stamp and stamped them onto white card stock. I used small, sharp scissors to carefully cut around the stamped images, then attached them with my tiny attacher. I love how this page captures a special memory and the stamps help document a tasty recipe. I can tell that this stamp set is going to be one of my new favorites!

Nancy Damiano | Foodie StampFoodie Puffy Stickers, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers – Teal, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers – Pink, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers – Black
I love that this stamp set is not only great for my pocket pages, but also for making cards. I have a best friend who is a wonderful cook and I wanted to send a handmade thank you for hosting our family recently. Foodie Stamp to the rescue!

One of my favorite design go-to’s is the all-over stamp technique. I love the eclectic looks of a repeated design. I pumped up the color by using all of the shades in the rainbow and scattering them about. Two circular puffy stickers from the Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers in pink and aqua placed right in the center of the stamped images gives the card some dimension. As do the enamel dots circling the words. The final touch is simple, a bold black puffy sticker from the black Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers and that completes the card.
We can’t wait to see how you use your Foodie Stamp! Share your projects on Instagram using the hashtag #EllesStudio for a chance to be featured here on the Elle’s Studio blog and win a $10 gift certificate to the Elle’s Studio shop!

An Awesome Family Fun Layout with Melissa Mann

We are so excited that our Family Fun collection has been released to our shop—not only because we think that you will love documenting your memories with it, but because our design team has been busy creating with it, and we can’t wait to share their projects with you! To kick off many blog posts featuring these versatile products, we have Melissa Mann with an awesome layout!
Hey everyone! I’m excited to be back on the blog with my very first project made with the new Family Fun collection and the September 2017 Kit.

Supplies | September 2017 Kit, Date Night Stamp, Thankful Sticker Labels, Family Fun Acrylic ShapesFamily Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper StackFamily Fun 12″ x 12″  Paper CollectionSeptember 2016 Digital Cut File
I always struggle with using the 6″ x 6″ paper that accompany many paper collections and wanted to figure out a way to use them. Usually, the designs are on a smaller scale than the normal 12″ x 12″ patterned paper. I wanted lots of patterns on my layout, but didn’t want it to be overwhelming with the larger scale patterns on the 12″ x 12″ sheets.

I cut out the “awesome” word from the September 2016 Digital Cut File on my Silhouette Cameo; this word is actually all joined together when it cuts out. I cut apart each letter and traced it onto my pattern paper from the Family Fun 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and cut them out. They weren’t perfect, but I was okay with that as this added to the overall feel of the layout.

I printed out a photo of my husband in black and white and used a larger circle than the “O” in the cut file. I wanted that to be slightly bigger than the other letters. I popped this up using foam dots to adhere to the cardstock. Each letter was stiched down using my sewing machine. I love that added texture!

Lastly, I placed die cuts from the September Kit, Thankful Sticker Labels and Family Fun Acrylic Shapes around my layout. I also stamped the phrase “love this” all over the layout using the Date Night Stamp with black ink.
Thanks for taking a peek!
