Documenting the 4th of July with Laura Hager

We are excited to have Laura Hager with us today sharing how she was able to document the 4th of July holiday with a couple of tags and die cuts from of our July kit and some embellishments from our coordinating add-ons! Let’s take a peek!

Hey there! I’m Laura and I’m back to show you how I used the July kit and add-ons to create a Fourth of July layout! I was starting to print my photos, when I realized that my printer was out of ink. I only ended up being able to print one picture. I decided to use this as a creative challenge and to try to make the layout out of mostly journaling tags. This month’s kit was so fun! It was so bright and colorful. The whole kit wasn’t Fourth of July themed, but it had the perfect amount of red, white and blue. I collected all the pieces that had those three colors and started working on the layout!

Supplies | July kitcork tagssummer puffy stickers, and little acrylic stars

Jen Chapin’s layout inspired me to use the cork tag and the acrylic star. This was my starting point for the layout. I only had one 4 x 6 inch picture, so I knew I needed to use that. I pulled out the 4 x 6 journaling tag from the July kit. The stripes were visible through the cork tag, so I added white card stock to hide the lines on the card under the star.

The little stars in the Summer puffy stickers were perfect for adding extra details to the layout. I used the red and blue ones around the page. I love adding little details to make the page come together.

I used a gray list card from the July kit to document some special moments from this past holiday. My typewriter isn’t working, so I used a stamp and ink to make the words. Situations like this can be a little tedious, but the effort can always be seen in the work.

This holiday was such a fun day with my family! It was so fun to document. I always love using the Elle’s Studio products, because they are so cheerful! What will you be documenting with your July Kit?

Enjoying This Moment Scrapbook Layout by Daniela Dobson

Daniela Dobson is with us today sharing her newest layout she made highlighting our Title Builder Stamp and July 2017 kit! We are also excited to share that our Title Builder Stamp will be back in stock soon – Click here to add your email to our list to receive an email when it’s available!

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog post today. It’s Daniela here highlighting Title Builder Stamp set and July 2017 kit and extras. I created a layout where my title is front and center.

SUPPLIES | Title Builder Stamp, July 2017 Kit, Summer Puffy Stickers, Everyday Circle Stickers, Everyday Labels Puffy Stickers – Gray, Love This Life Stamp, Little Acrylic Stars, Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 paper collection, Live Laugh Love 6×6 paper stack, Everyday Adventures Mini Album Class with Stamp

I placed my photo in the top center of this 8.5 x 11 layout. The photo is layered with a journaling card from July 2017 kit, a doily and tissue paper from my stash.

I stamped the title with different ink colors to match the stripes in the journaling card under the photo. Then to get the title arranged as shown, I arranged all the words the way I wanted them and stamped each stamp, individually, with different ink color on the page. I embellished the bottom of the page with strips of paper, die cuts from July Kit, stickers and stamps.

Challenge Day

Welcome to the July edition of Challenge Day here on the Elle’s Studio blog! Every month, we will be issuing challenges to join in on and inspire you to create, with a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Elle’s Studio shop for each challenge winner! The more you submit, the better chance you have at winning. Let’s get started with this month’s challenges.

Stand Out Title | Use a journaling tag to make your title stand out by either stamping on it like Jennifer Chapin did on this stunning layout, with our Stanley Solid and Outline Alphabet Stamps and Title Builder Stamp on a tag from our July 2017 kit, or by using one with the words already on it!

Use Your Stamps | Let’s get our stamps out and use them either on your project or directly on your photos like Melissa Mann did here on her beautiful pocket pages with our Love This Life Stamp and Summer Stamp.

Take Three | Use three of the same object on your next project like Neela Nalam did on this fun layout. She used three journaling tags from our July 2017 kit and Summer journaling tags, three Cork Tags, and three Summer Puffy Stickers!

Use multiple photos |  Sometimes it takes more than one photo to get the picture you’re looking for. Create a project that uses more than one photo like Candace Perkins did here on this fun layout!

Sketch Challenge | Use this sketch, inspired by Jill Sprott’s Comfort In Chaos layout, to create a project of your own! The repeating scallops make an eye-catching layered background – you could also try repeating stars, hearts, etc!

To post an entry to this month’s challenges, leave a comment on this blog post by August 15th with the challenge name and URL of your creation. If posting on Instagram, please leave a comment here with the direct link to your Instagram post and make sure you use the hashtag #EllesStudio. Creating a Summer Tag Mini Album with Meghann Andrew

Do you ever see a product and know instantly what you’re going to create with it? Meghann Andrew did with our Cork Tags, and today she’s here to share her creation. Let’s see where her inspiration took her…

Hi there! It’s Meghann with you today, and I am excited to show you more of the mini album I created using some fun, new product in the shop this week!

Supplies | July 2017 Kit, Cork TagsSummer Puffy Stickers, Everyday Circle StickersSummer Journaling TagsSummer Stamp, Love This Life StampDated Stamp, Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

As soon as I saw the new Cork Tags, my initial thought was, “I MUST make a mini album with those!” I chose the “summer” tag, and started off by backing it with the yellow pattern from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. I then stamped “documented” and “2017” using the Dated Stamp and added just a few of the Summer Puffy Stickers. Easy!

The Cork Tags are 1-7/8″ or 1.875″ wide and 3-1/2″ tall.

I chose my photos and cropped them to the same dimensions as the tag. Three photos fit on each 4″ x 6″ page, which makes this mini album quite easy and inexpensive to create, since the cost of photos can certainly add up!

Using one of the Cork Tags as a guide, I simply snipped off the corners of my photos and added a hole punch.

When choosing my tags from the July 2017 Kit and Summer Journaling Tags, I used the tag shape to figure out where I was going to crop, so that I allowed space for journaling, or didn’t cut off any elements that I liked on the tag.

I then pulled together a few simple supplies and got to work to create the pages.

On the inside of the cover tag, I put another piece of the yellow pattern from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack to have the same pattern on the back and front. Backing the Cork Tag with two pieces of paper also helps it to stay quite rigid. I then used the Love This Life Stamp to stamp “around here” and added a die cut from the July 2017 Kit in the center. On the opposite page, the Summer Puffy Stickers topped a photo of my daughter swimming to my husband in the pool. The sayings on these puffies are perfect!

On the back side of the pool photo, I added the perfect tag from the Summer Journaling Tags, to which I added typed journaling to, along with the date. Who else has lots of play dates planned this summer? Don’t forget to document them! On the opposite page, that’s what I did with a photo of my daughter and her friends, with just a Summer Puffy Sticker placed at the front of their table.

I love the backside of the playdate photo. I topped the red stripe on the tag from the July 2017 Kit with a stamped heart from the Love This Life Stamp, popping it up with dimensional adhesive. On the opposite page, I topped of photo of my daughter relaxing by the pool with an Everyday Circle Sticker and Summer Puffy Stickers.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Elle’s Studio blog! To see the last three pages that I created, hop over to my personal blog to take a look!

Awesome Adventure Layout with Neela Nalam

Neela Nalam is with us today sharing how she used our Title Builder Stamp to create a fun repeating pattern for her newest layout! And, we have good news! Our Title Builder Stamp will be back in stock soon – Click here to add your email to our list to receive an email when it’s available!

One of the most exciting releases this month is the Title builder products. I couldn’t help but highlight the Title Builder Stamp with this project!

Supplies used: July 2017 Kit, Everyday Circle Stickers, Summer Puffy Stickers, Hello Sunshine Stamp, Title Builder Stamp, and  Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 paper.

I wanted to create a type stack with the words from the Title Builder stamp. I used my Misti Stamping tool to create the type stack. I then cut out smooth white stock into squares and then stamped the type stack onto them with black ink. I created a bunch of these squares and stuck them on a base cardstock that created a feel of patterned paper. I then needed to add a whole lot of color to this. I did this by adding the circle stickers and the puffy stickers. I also added strips from the bottom of the Live Laugh Love collection on either side of the layout to create a framed look.

As for the photo itself, I used my favorite technique of using larger photos on the layout. I also typed my journaling on the photo itself. I then added a die cut from the July kit on the photo to complete my layout.

If you missed our Title Builder stamp, it will be back in stock soon – Click here to add your email to our list to receive an email when it’s available!

Snapshot of an Awesome Day Layout by Jen Schow

Today we get to see how this layout by Jen Schow came together, using our new products for July, from start to finish in a process video! We love how she combined our Title Builder products with our new acrylic piece and Stanley alphabet stamps from our shop – showing us that we can mix and match our shop items with our Title Builder products to give us endless title options!

I love the bright and fun colors included in this month’s kit. I chose a few of my favorite journaling tags, some summer photos, and some of the new Title Builder stamps (I’ve been itching to use them) and went to work on this simple layout!

Supplies | July 2017 Kit, Wood Veneer Cameras, July Labels, Snapshot Acrylic, Title Builder Alphabet Stamp, Title Builder Stamp, Stanley Alphabet Stamp – Outline, Stanley Alphabet Stamp – Solid, Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 paper.

I love that you can easily combine the Title Builder stamps with all of the products that come out each month, and I used the “Snapshot” acrylic piece here.

Labels are so versatile and one of my favorite ways to use them is to leave them in a strip and journal inside each label. I went for list-style story here, so it was perfect!

I added a few embellishments, some doodled lines, and some patterned paper from the Live Laugh Love collection to complete this bright page. If you want to see just how it all came together, I have a process video for you below!

Capturing this little adventure with Melissa Mann

We are having so much fun seeing the awesome titles everyone has been creating with our new Title Builder products! Our Title Builder Stamp, Alphabet Stamp, Wood Veneer and Acrylic are perfect for perfecting your scrapbook layout and pocket page titles, and today Melissa is with us to show how she put these Title Builder products to use on her newest layout!

I was super excited to make a project this month using the new Title Builder products! The products are super fabulous! I am a HUGE fan of single word stamps in large fonts and love how much I will be able to incorporate this stamp set into my layouts, cards, and for my Project Life album.

I created a new layout using the “Live Laugh Love” paper collection and many pieces of the July 2017 kit and add-on’s.  I used a lot of linear lines while creating this layout – I think it helps to lead the eye across and helps the title pop a little more.  I also used a lot of layers in three groups on this project: the top part of the layout has the pictures layered against patterned paper, 3×4 journal cards, and lots of tags and other bits.

Supplies | Title Builder Stamp, Title Builder Acrylic, Title Builder Wood Veneer, July 2017 Kit, Everyday Circle Stickers, AM PM Journaling Tags, Cork Tags, Summer Puffy Stickers, and Live Laugh Love 12 x 12 Paper.

The middle section has some layering using the longer strips of paper with a layer of stitching and then circles cut from the 12 x 12 paper are adhered using foam dots. And finally, the title has a good bit of layering with the stitching and sub-title that is stamped underneath the main title. Each section reduces the layering  just slightly to lead the eye down the page.

We would love to see the projects that you are creating using the new Title Builder products and the July 2017 Kit + add-on’s! Be sure to share your creation on Instagram, using the hashtag #EllesStudio for a chance to be featured here on our blog, and win a gift certificate to the shop!

One Product, Three Ways: Cork Tags

Our new Cork Tags are large enough to be used as an element that stands out on all kinds of projects! Today we have Allie, Maggie, and Nancy sharing how they each used the Cork Tags on their projects! Let’s take a look at what they created.

Allie Stewart | I wanted to create an anchor for my page, and the Cork Tags were perfect for this. I used the July cut file to cut tags from patterned paper in the same size as the cork. I layered them at slight angles on the left edge of my page to create a focal border. I used paint, gelatos, and a stencil to create a coordinating background, and added my paper and embellishments. I finished off the page with the Live Laugh Love Puffy Stickers, July labels, and Puffy Star Stickers!

My favorite part of the page is the “Hello” stamped on the Summer Cork Tag with the Title Builder Stamp. The cork is a perfect surface for stamping, and it takes ink beautifully.

Maggie Massey | These Cork Tags are so fun! I just love embellishments that feature the negative of a design – I think it creates the perfect opportunity to customize with different backgrounds and that’s just what I did with these pocket filler tags.

To create the “LOVE” tag, I laid down one of the washi stickers from the Live Laugh Love Collection on a tag from the July 2017 Kit, trimmed down the cork tag a bit, and simply adhered the tag over the washi. A few more little embellishments and a quick stamp from the Love this Life Stamp and this 3 x 4 inch tag was done!

The “SUMMER” tag was completed in pretty much the same way, but instead of washi tape, I adhered one of the die cut banner strips from the July Kit behind my cork tag.

And finally, to create the “TODAY” tag, I cut the word “life” from a 3×4 inch tag in the July Kit and adhered that to the larger 4×6 tag that was also found in the July Kit. Then I trimmed down the cork tags and placed that on top, along with a few other embellishments from the July Kit and Love this Life Stamp.

Nancy Damiano | This is a clean and simple design with an interesting twist. I began with a white card base, bordered with a beautiful strip of paper from the 6×6 Live Laugh Love paper pad. Next, a white rectangle was cut to the size of the cork tag. The word “today” was traced on that sheet of cardstock as a placement guide for the enamel dots. A variety of enamel dots in different sizes and shades were used to create a pebbled look. Next, I glued down the cork tag over the white cardstock with the enamel dots peeking through perfectly. To finish off the card, I used the simple stamped sentiment “more of this” just under the tag and a blue die cut from the July 2017 Kit. This was a fun and simple card to create!

We can’t wait to see how you use the new Cork Tags! Be sure to share your creation on Instagram, using the hashtag #EllesStudio for a chance to be featured here on our blog, and win a gift certificate to the shop!
