Documenting Real Life, In Color with Suzanna Stein

We have to take both the good and the bad that comes with real life, so why not document it, too? Suzanna Stein is here today, to share a new pocket page spread that she created to document her chronic illness, and she used the April 2018 kit and add-ons, as well as the new Noteworthy collection to add a bit of color to her not-so-great memories. Let’s see what she created:

Hey crafty pals, it’s Suzanna here! I’m so excited to be back on the Elle’s Studio blog today sharing a pocket page layout I created with the April Kit & add-ons, plus a few goodies from the new Noteworthy collection!

Supplies | April 2018 Kit, April Labels, Everyday Goodness StickersEnamel DotsNoteworthy Double-Sided Journaling Tags, Noteworthy Word Labels, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy Wood Veneers, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy Stamp

For this layout, I wanted to create another set of pages for my autoimmune album. The cheerful and bold colors in this kit were perfect for documenting this particular story!

Each of my photos on this layout comes from a different day. I was focusing more on the overall story, than the dates the photos took place. For this reason, I didn’t worry too much about adding a date to each of them, I just noted that they are from 2018.

After embellishing my photos, I went back in and started choosing the tags that would accompany them.

This “Here & There” tag from the is April Kit one of my favorites – the space on the bottom of the tag was perfect for a little title stamping.

I made sure to have two cards that would be specific for journaling. The first tag has the bulk of my journaling, where I share my thoughts on the story. On the second tag, I did a bullet point-style list where I wrote a little note about each of the photos in the layout, and added the numbers with the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers.

I love the way that the details tag turned out! That yellow grid patterned tag is subtle, but still gives a pop of color and interest, and I added the stamped “details” word from the Noteworthy Stamp.

I really love the way this layout turned out and the fact that I was able to use these bold and bright colors to document real life (sometimes not-so-great) moments—I like to think it makes those moments a little brighter and happier!

Colorful Columns + Process Video with Heather Leopard

We love it when a particular product inspires an amazing layout design, and today we have design team member Heather Leopard here to “WOW” us with her latest scrapbook layout, which started with the Vellum Sentiments. Let’s see what she created, and be sure to watch her process video below!

Hi friends! It’s Heather Leopard here, feeling like I struck gold with this rainbow-inspired layout using the April 2018 Kit, add-ons and the Noteworthy collection.

Supplies | April 2018 Kit, Vellum Sentiments, Banner StickersAdventure Puffy StickersYellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Acrylic Stars, Noteworthy Bits and PiecesNoteworthy Puffy StickersNoteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack, Noteworthy 12×12 Paper Collection

This layout was inspired by the colorful Vellum Sentiments. I played around with placing them in a line on the side and in a random pattern around the paper but once I started looking at the photos I wanted to use, the design just fell into place. The circles measure 2.25″ x 2.25″ so I decided to cut strips of color-coordinated patterned paper from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and Noteworthy 12×12 Paper Collection in 2″ x 11″ strips, making it look like the color was dripping out of the vellum circles, kind of similar to art you sometimes see made with crayon drippings. That was not my plan but this reminds me of that.

Prior to adhering the paper strips, I adding fun stitched patterns. Each stitched pattern follows the design in the paper, from connecting dots in the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers  to “+” signs to circles.

Next, I printed 8 photos measuring 2″ x 3″. Yep, 8 photos! I spaced them out in a pattern with 3 across the top and bottom and 2 in the middle. I used the paper strips as my guide to align the photos, which made it easy-peasy.

To finish it off, I added embellishments in the same color as the patterned paper, from the Banner Stickers, Adventure Puffy StickersAcrylic StarsNoteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers and Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, tucking some behind and over photos and popping others up to add dimension. Color-blocking embellishments in their matching column gave this page cohesive look.

I also created a process video for this layout, so be sure to watch to see how it all came together!

Thanks for stopping by today!

One Product, Three Ways: Adventure Puffy Stickers

Who doesn’t love a good puffy stickers? With our April release came our newest set, the Adventure Puffy Stickers, and today design team members Nathalie, Neela and Candace have all used this product in fun and creative ways! Hint: they’re not just for vacation photos! Let’s take a look at what they made:

Nathalie | As soon as I saw the “yes, please” phrase included in the Adventure Puffy Stickers, I thought of the saying “Cake? Yes, please!” so I decided that it would be great on a birthday card.

Supplies | Happy Birthday Journaling Tags, Adventure Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

I matched the stickers with a 4″ x 6″ tag featuring a beautiful birthday cake found in the Happy Birthday Journaling Tags. But before adhering the stickers, I stamped the subtitle “Let’s celebrate!” from the Happy Birthday Stamp (sold out).

For the background, I used a pink pattern from the brand new Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and to finish, I machine-sewed corners with a yellow pattern also from the Noteworthy collection.

Neela | One of my favorite topics to scrapbook is our vacation memories. So as soon as I saw the Adventure Puffy Stickers, I knew I had to tell our story about our trip to a coffee plantation in Hawaii.

Supplies | April 2018 Kit, Vellum SentimentsAdventure Puffy StickersYellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Noteworthy Double-Sided Journaling TagsNoteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

The Adventure Puffy Stickers had exactly the right phrases, colors and shapes for these photos from our visit that day. I pretty much used the entire sticker set on this layout and every single one made sense.

To really make this layout pop, I created a column of phrases along the left side of the spread, using the colorful striped patterns from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper StackAdventure Puffy Stickers and Yellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

Candace | Hello friends! One of my very favorite Elle’s Studio products is always the puffy stickers, and the Adventure Puffy Stickers are just fantastic. These stickers are so versatile and can be used on many different projects. I chose to use these stickers on a layout all about a family fun adventure in the Utah snow.

Supplies |  April 2018 Kit, Adventure Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy 12×12 Paper Collection

I thought it would be fun to create a messy grid on a 12″ x 12″ layout. I printed photos in various sizes and then filled in the extra spaces with patterned paper and a cut up the “Go, See, Do” journaling tag from the April 2018 Kit, which was perfect for this page.  Lastly, I got to embellish using the fun Adventure Puffy Stickers. I looked for interesting places and angles to put the stickers on the photos. I wanted to create a flow across the spread and force the eye to look for all the dimensional sticker accents.

So fun!  I love the final layout and the whole “adventure” theme.  How will you use the Adventure Puffy Stickers in your projects this month?

Noteworthy Layered Circles with Daniela

We are so excited that our newest collection, Noteworthy, has finally been released in the shop! Our design team has been hard at work creating with it; but really with a collection this beautiful, the work was fairly easy! Today Daniela is sharing a beautifully layered layout design that may look complex, but only requires a few products and a circle cutter! Let’s take a look:

Hi there, it’s Daniela again, and I’m so excited to share my very first layout using the brand-new collection: Noteworthy. When I got my box with all the beautiful goodies I fell in love with this collection right away. The colors are amazing and what I really like is that they are perfect with everyday pictures. Sometimes it’s really hard to find supplies for boy pages, but in this case Noteworthy provides so many papers and embellishments that fit perfectly, and I used them on a new layout that I’m sharing with you today!

Supplies | Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Wood Veneers, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper StackNoteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection

I wanted to use lots of different papers from the Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection and 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack on this layout because they look so great in combination. I used my circle cutter to cut circles and layered them in the center of my layout.

The Noteworthy Wood Veneers add a different texture and they build a nice contrast to the papers, so I topped my layers with the “today,” “here and now,” and heart and star circle veneer pieces.

Paper #3, which includes lots of colorful words and phrases, is perfect for fussy-cutting and building big titles. I arranged four words around the circle and divided them with Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers.

To add more dimension and texture to my page, I cut a fringe edge on some of the circles and used the Noteworthy Bits and Pieces on top of them, so there are lots of details to discover.

I hope you like my page. I can’t wait to see what you create with Noteworthy! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Don’t miss out on our beautiful collection, Noteworthy, perfect for documenting your noteworthy everyday moments!

A Day Documented with April Guest Designer Laureen Wagener

It’s a new month, and today we introduce a new guest designer: Laureen Wagener!  We are so excited to have her colorful and detailed creations featured here on the blog, using our newest products! Her lovely and positive personality shines through on her projects, and we know that you will be SO inspired by what she has to share with us this month. Let’s take a look at her first project:

Hi Elle’s Studio friends! My name is Laureen Wagener and I am beyond excited to be the guest designer for this month! I can’t wait to share the excitement and projects I created with you!

One thing I love about Elle’s Studio is not only their great quality and uniqueness to their products, I also love how they mix and match! The monthly kits match the current collections in such a good way—it was easy peasy to create three layouts to share with you throughout the month using all the amazing goodies!

Today I get to share my first layout with you. I used the April 2018 Kit and add-ons along with the beautiful new Noteworthy collection. This collection does not disappoint— the colors, the papers, the patterns and the embellishments are so good!

Supplies | April 2018 Kit, Currently Wood Veneer TabsYellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Mini Dated StampNoteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy Epoxy StickersNoteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

I was scrolling through my pictures on my laptop and discovered that I still had a bunch of pictures from my “day in the life” 2017 project that I hadn’t scrapped. I decided to make that my first project and printed out eight pictures at 3″ x 4″. I grabbed a circle punch, punched all my pictures out and started the fun!

Circle dies were one of the main component of this page. I used the papers from the Noteworthy 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack and cut them out and then just added my photo on top.

The entire idea for this page came to mind when I was looking through all the embellishments and found the Currently Wood Veneer Tabs with action words on them like reading and eating. I wanted one picture to compliment each tab and the circle grid idea was born.

Since there are only eight tabs with words I decided to leave a little space right in the center of my page and place my title there. I used the Yellow Puffy Alphabet Stickers, which I ADORE, and created my title. Above, I added the date using the new Mini Dated Stamp onto a die-cut, multi-colored banner from the April 2018 Kit.

Embellishing this page was fairly easy. I used the color-on-color technique, adding Noteworthy Puffy Stickers and Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers for an easy, yet eye-catching design!

As a finishing touch I sprinkled some spray mists here and there and called it done!

Thank you for tuning in today, reading along and letting me share my work with you!
I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did. I will be back soon sharing a new project with you!

My name is Laureen, I am in my early twenties and from beautiful Germany. I am in school to become a physical therapist and besides all that studying and waiting for my train to take me home, I like to get crafty! I discovered scrapbooking in 2013 and immediatly fell in love with it! Due to a lack of time, I needed to stop, but rediscovered the beauty of it in 2016 while going through chemo as a treatment to beat my cancer. It helped distract me from all the bad things and pain and brought back so much joy! Now I can’t stop and am loving all the memories I have in albums!

My favorite things are enamel dots, because they are like little sugary treats you sprinkle around your page, spray mists and unique embellishments such as wooden pieces or acrylic embellishments. My all time favorite color is yellow and whenever I get a piece of yellow paper or embellishment it will for sure end up on my project!

You can find more of my work at my Instagram feed, my blog, and my YouTube channel!

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio blog, Laureen! Be sure to follow all of Laureen’s links above to see more of what she’s been creating until you find her back here on the ES blog next week!

A Favorite Moment Featuring Noteworthy with Meghann Andrew

The newest collection releasing tomorrow, Noteworthy, is by far my favorite ever Elle’s Studio release. With an array of beautiful colors and everyday sentiments, this collection is perfect for documenting any day you wish to remember, and I used it to create a new 8-1/2″ x 11″ layout all about a magical moment my daughter shared with her favorite character.

I started out with the awesome number paper from the Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection as my base. It provided just enough pattern at the edge of my layout, while keeping the clean, white look that I wanted to stand out against all of the beautiful color that I was about to add.

The grid in the Noteworthy Stamp was perfect to add a bit of colorful pattern at the top and bottom of my photo mat, which I created with tags from the Noteworthy Double-Sided Journaling Tags and 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. The Noteworthy Bits and Pieces also added extra color and dimension by adding in an extra layer with the “awesome” and the bold, blue star die-cut.

To balance that bold, bright column of color on the right, I added a smaller combination of die-cuts, labels, cut-aparts and a perfect “a day to remember” wood veneer banner on the bottom left side of the page. Just like on the right side, I embellished with the awesome Noteworthy Puffy Stickers and Stamp.

I didn’t need to create an elaborate title for this one, as the word, “favorite,” from the Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, said it all! I caught an extremely special moment when my daughter was dancing with her favorite Disney character, and the smile on her face matched the, “this is pure happiness” label perfectly. This beautiful collection also includes a pack of colorful Epoxy Stickers, and the green star fit perfectly at the bottom corner of the photo.

It is perfectly fitting that I produced my new, favorite layout with my new, favorite collection from Elle’s Studio: Noteworthy! I can’t wait to see what you all create with it!

Get ready for our newest collection release tomorrow at 8am PST! Don’t miss out on what could be your next favorite creation using these beautiful products!

Digital Cut Fun: Part Two with Amanda-jayne Baldwin

Digital files are a great tool to keep on hand to use over and over again, but how often do you pair your digital printables with your cut files? Amanda-jayne Baldwin is inspiring us to do just that with a lovely layout that she’s sharing with us today, and we couldn’t love it more! Let’s find out how she did it:

Hi creative friends! Welcome back!

As you probably already know, I am just crazy for our monthly digital cut files, and today I am expanding on that love with Digital Cut Fun: Part 2! (If you missed Digital Cut Fun you can go back and check it out HERE.)

Today’s focus is on combining our awesome digital files with our monthly printable designs—yay! I just adore all the cute bunny designs in the latest Happy Day Printables and couldn’t resist creating an Easter page with them!

Supplies | March Digital Cut FilesHappy Day Printables, March 2018 Kit, Big Moment Phrase Stickers, Heart Of Gold Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Star Stickers, Cerulean Blue Puffy Alphabet StickersEnamel DotsLive Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack

Oh the cuteness! Does it get any sweeter than this?!! And yes, yes, yesssss to all the bunnies!

You’ll be surprised just how super easy it is to re-create this look! Simply open the Happy Day Printables and select the images you wish to print. Edit sizes according to your needs & print away! I was super lazy and selected my images and just hit the ‘share’ & ‘print’ options in Microsoft Windows. I selected my sizes according to the options in Print Pictures. It’s honestly that easy!

Fussy cut them out (or if you’re really clever, print & cut with your Silhouette Studio software) and voila! Rabbit season! I especially love the heart icon, which I over-sized to create the cut file bunnies tummy with!

Speaking of cut files, here’s how I created those sweet big feature bunnies: Enlarge the white tail bunny digital design in the March Digital Cut Files to 11 inches in height, left align the image and cut it out with white cardstock. Keep the cut out to use as a future template, and use the bunny ‘hole’ or negative to back with patterned papers. I love the softness and whimsy of the gray stars design in the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack. As I opted to use 6″ x 6″ papers, I rounded the bunny chin & glued it over the other sheet of paper to avoid the appearance of join marks. I then added that extra large heart icon to create the bunny tummy. So cute! Using black cardstock scraps, I snipped out a nose and eyes for our sleepy bunny. A pink bow and faux stitching with a black felt tip pen completed the main rabbit.

For the second patterned paper rabbit, you will need your previously rabbit die-cut template. Position the template over the paper you wish to use. I chose the pretty pink hearts from the Live Laugh Love 6″ x 6″ Paper Stack because they coordinated perfectly with the heart icon printable, and then it’s a simple trace & cut! SO easy! Apply the faux stitching and glue into position.

Now it’s time to make the bunny banner!

Suspend some baker’s twine onto the top right hand corner of your page, and glue into place. Take your Happy Day Printables bunnies and adhere them to the string like flags. Divide each bunny with a Puffy Star Sticker, and add a pom pom cotton tail to each one! Adorable!

You can also use more of your printed bunnies to both adorn & layer underneath your photo.

You’ll also spot a few items from our March 2018 Kit here, like the cute purple bunny die-cut circle.

I added more of the printed bunnies to the left side of my feature rabbit, too, and completed my layout with Cerulean Blue Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Enamel Dots & Heart Of Gold Chipboard Stickers.
