Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Spreads with Meghann Andrew

Hello there! It’s Meghann Andrew with you today! I’ve recently started an ongoing project that I can work on whenever I have a few minutes in my day: a traveler’s notebook insert documenting a family trip to Seattle last year. This is my first traveler’s notebook experience, and I’m finding that creating in it is SO easy with the help of the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit! Today I’m here to share my two most recent spreads. I case you missed it, you can see the beginning of my insert here on my blog.

This spread documents the end of the first full day of our trip, with a visit to the Chittenden Locks, then on to Alki Beach for the sunset. I pulled the green out of the photos, and started with the “favorite stops” paper on the left. I love that the 3″ x 3″ photo just covers up two of the green rectangles on the page, leaving me three spots for my typed journaling, then a title at the bottom.
On the right side, I carried the green and blue colors over, adding yellow with the sunburst color paper, placing the angle in my photo at the line where the green meets the blue on the page.

To create this title, I used the navy cardstock alphabet stickers that are found in the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit, along with the arrow from the Let’s Go Stamp, the dots from the Mini Dated Stamp and the Stanley Jr. solid and outline alphabet stamps to spell out “fun.” I love how all of these elements came together!

At the base of the right page, I had to use that lovely green ray to add the “loving this” phrase from the Adventure Puffy Stickers—I find that they are working so beautifully with the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit! I then stamped “snapshot recorded” in green below using the Let’s Go Stamp, then added the “best friends” die cut from the May 2018 Kit before finishing off the grouping with a yellow Puffy Heart Sticker. This little grouping of puffy stickers, stamps and die cuts makes me so happy!

The next spread records the beginning of day two of our trip, and we started off with a visit to the Space Needle! I wanted my spread to have a “retro” look to it, so I halved the multicolored diagonal stripe paper and split is across the spread, adding my two photos to the center.

On the left, I repeated the multi-colored title from my insert title page, spelling out “space” onto a label from the die cut sheet, and then added the blue cardstock alphabet stickers below. I had to add a yellow star from the Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers to that page. Above and below my title label, I added the “see” and “day _ of _” stickers from the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit.

On the right, a few die cuts and a sticker from the kit topped my photo, and the blank space at the bottom was the perfect place for my journaling. Below it, I needed something to finish off the open space, so I added the numbers Everyday Goodness Sticker, along with the “love it” Play All Day Phrase Sticker. I love that the monthly add-ons are working so well in my insert along with the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit!

A Noteworthy Micro Mini with Jamie Leija

Mini albums are perfect for documenting special memories in a compact way, and even better when you can give one to a friend to help them remember moments that you’ve shared with them! That’s what Jamie Leija did with the tiny albums she’s sharing with us today, created using the Noteworthy collection! Let’s take a look:
I recently spent a happy weekend in April in Austin, Texas with my best girls. We had a total blast re-visiting our university and old haunts. I knew I wanted to commemorate the trip in a small way and also thank them for an awesome weekend. Thus, the micro mini was born! It’s part mini book, part thank you card, all fun!

Supplies | Letter & Number Stickers — Light PinkNoteworthy Double-Sided Journaling TagsNoteworthy Word LabelsNoteworthy Bits and PiecesNoteworthy Puffy StickersNoteworthy Epoxy StickersNoteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper CollectionNoteworthy Stamp
I used products from the new Noteworthy collection to create these coordinating minis, one for each friend. They aren’t identical but they’re very similar.

I started by trimming a 12″ x 12″ sheet of patterned paper from the Noteworthy 12×12 Paper Collection down to 4″ x 6″, then I folded it in half. Next, I cut a sheet of white cardstock down to just smaller than that. I folded it in the middle and stitched the two together, creating the base of the mini.

There were four main photos that I wanted to use, with my favorite on the cover. We’re laughing hysterically at a funny moment that had just happened. I converted the photo to black and white so that you’d focus on just the moment and nothing else.
I hand wrote a note to each of them and paired it with another photo of the three of us. The embellishing on this bit was very minimal. I focused on circles in different textures: die cuts from the Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, and tiny Noteworthy Puffy Stickers.

On the last pages, I did a bit of documenting. I wanted to record all of the highlights from our trip, because we did a lot and had so much fun in the process! I embellished throughout the book, mixing both flat and dimensional embellishments like the Noteworthy Word Labels and Noteworthy Puffy Stickers. I also completely loved the “so much fun” sentiment from the Noteworthy Stamp! I’m so happy it’s included in the stamp set!

I’m so excited to send these micro mini’s off to my girls. I always want to remember this great weekend with them, and now they will have something tangible to remember it by, too.

A Hello Good Times Printable-Inspired Mini Album with Andrea Gray

We love it when a product does most of the design work for us by sparking an idea for documenting our everyday life! The Hello Good Times Printables did just that for design team member Andrea Gray, and she was inspired to create an amazing mini album after seeing the daily arrow labels included in this awesome, use it again and again product! Let’s take a look at her mini album:
Hello friends! I am super excited to share this little mini-book I made using the Hello Good Times printables in the shop! My intention was to use the daily labels and the 3″ x 4″ tags to create a look into just one simple week—here’s how I put it all together:

To design the cover, I stacked the individual labels included in the Hello Good Times Printables onto a Photoshop canvas and printed them onto cardstock before trimming it to size. (Alternatively, you could print 2 sheets of the printables and glue them to a piece of paper that is already cut to size.) Then I added a matching puffy heart next to each one.

I prepped the guts by trimming a few plastic 6″ x 8″ pockets so they were 3″ x 8″ (this just means trimming off the right side of pockets so you’re left with 2 pockets only). Then selected one photo from each day and printed them to be the same size as the pocket pages from edge to edge since these photos were not going into pockets.

The back side of the cover has a printable tag and the date range and then the opposite page is a pocket. The book alternates this pattern for each day. So when you flip to Monday, the pockets are on the left and the large photo is on the right.

For each day, I added the daily label from the Hello Good Times Printables and very few embellishments. Honestly, the book could easily be made with only the labels and tags, but we all love the Elle’s Studio embellishments and I couldn’t help it!

Sometimes the label fit best on the photo and other times it was better on one of the tags. I also reached into my stash of journaling tags from the May 2018 Kit and found a few that worked well for the photo that day.

I loved capturing just the tidbits of the week in this fun ring-bound book. The easy to print tags and labels made it so easy to put this together in just a couple of hours.
Thanks for hanging with me today! See you soon!

Doing More with Title Builder Vol. 2!

We love our new Title Builder Vol. 2 products for creating easy and fun titles for everything to scrapbook layouts to traveler’s notebooks, but what else can you do with the stamp, wood veneer and acrylic? Today, Amanda-jayne Baldwin is going to show us how we can create a beautiful background for a scrapbook layout that showcases the versatility of these fun products!
Hi, Elle’s Studio friends! It’s Amanda here, and today I am super excited to be shining the spotlight on the fabulous Title Builder Vol. 2 Stamp & Acrylic!
As the name suggests, these products are designed for creating the perfect project titles, but, as you’ll see from my layout today, they are crafted for so much more!

Supplies | Title Builder Vol. 2 Acrylic, Title Builder Vol. 2 Stamp, Noteworthy Double-Sided Journaling Tags, Noteworthy Bits and Pieces, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy Puffy Stickers, Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection
Oh how lovely! From that super fun title, to that dreamy soft background—this stamp has it all! Bold titles are amazing, but using the Title Builder Vol. 2 Stamp to create soft and delicate backgrounds too?! That’s crazy good! Let’s take a closer look:

Crazy.Better.Perfect indeed! SO awesome! To create that soft stamped heart background, I repeat stamped “forever friends” in mint ink over a heart stencil. I then inked cyan asterisks into some of the “gaps.”

For finishing touches, I stamped the diamonds, which you can also find on the Title Builder Vol. 2 Stamp, in royal blue and flicked a few inky splatters for good measure. Love it!

What a fabulous way to incorporate stamping into your layouts! Of course this is a Title Builder feature, so naturally I used the Title Builder Vol. 2 Acrylic plus the “he” and “she” stamps, which I stamped with black ink onto the pretty blue grid paper from the Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection to form my title too! All of those pretty layers beneath my photograph, as well as the embellishments are also from the Noteworthy collection.

In keeping with the softness of this page, I kept the Title Builder Vol. 2 Acrylic white. Had I been looking for a more striking result with big impact, I would have treated them with permanent ink or even an opaque paint.
Here’s one last look at those fabulous acrylics:

Crazy good! I hope that I have inspired you to use your Title Builder Vol. 2 products creatively!
Thanks for visiting!

How to Use our Good Times Acrylic

With good times sure to be in your future this summer, get ready to document them with our gold, mirrored Good Times Acrylic! We’ve pulled together five different ways how you can incorporate this fun, new product in your next project with project examples from our talented design team! Let’s check them out:

1. Pair it with other words to come up with a longer title, the way that Meghann Andrew did here using the Hazel Alphabet Stamp and May 2018 Kit.

2. Split up the words between two projects, the way that Daniela did on her Fun Times layout with the Wood Veneer Fun word. That gives this great product double-duty! Heather Leopard also did this on her fun layout, using the Title Builder Vol. 2 Wood Veneer to add a different texture to her title:

3. Put it in a pocket to create a celebratory title for your weekly or monthly spread, the way that Jess Forster did for her monthly memory pages:

4. Use it on a card as a special birthday or graduation greeting! We love how Wendy Antenucci added the Good Times Acrylic on the front of this card and paired it with tags and die cuts from the May 2018 Kit.

5. Balance the Good Times Acrylic with another metallic embellishment, like our Gold Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, the way that Neela Nalam did on her beautiful “Good Times” layout:

Be sure to put the new Good Times Acrylic in your cart today, while it is still in the shop! We can’t wait to see how you use this product on your layouts, pocket pages and cards!

Documenting Travel Mementos and Memories with Theresa Doan

Today we’re excited to welcome our third special guest this month, creating with our new Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit, Theresa Doan! Theresa’s notebook pages always contain the perfect mix of photos, stamping, journaling and embellishment, and we can’t wait to share what she’s created using our new kit! Let’s take a look:
Hello everyone!  My name is Theresa Doan and I am here to share a few layouts I created in a recent travel journal, using the new Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit! This is my fourth year using traveler’s notebooks for scrapbooking, journaling and planning. The size is just perfect for me, and not bulky.  I can easily throw one into my purse for day to day planning and journaling or traveling. It’s not unusual for me to have two or three with me at the same time!  For this travel journal, I documented a recent trip to Oregon.

For my title page, I used one the pink travel icon patterned paper in the kit to cut out the state of Oregon. I did this by simply printing out an outline of the state I found online, and using that as a template. I adhered the airplane wood veneer on top of the state cut out. Next, I stamped “location” using the Let’s Go Stamp included in the kit, but I decided to not use the box part of the stamp.  I covered the lines on the box with washi tape while I inked the stamp, then quickly peeled off the washi tape before stamping onto my page.  I stamped “Oregon” below that using the Solid Stanley Jr. Alphabet Stamps, as well as the month and year of our trip using the Mini Dated Stamp.

On this first layout, I wanted to include journaling about the reason for our trip, as well as our boarding passes. This is a pretty standard beginning to all of my travel journals. I started by adhering the grey and white patterned paper into my notebook. I took the “GO” tag and stamped the Portland airport code on it as well as the date of our flight.

I cut out a partial circle out of the ledger patterned paper to use for my journaling. I finished this page with the “SEE” and “DO” triangle stickers which I lined up with the grey triangles on the patterned paper.

On the next page, I added our boarding passes and stamped an airplane on them.  Boarding passes always fit perfectly into traveler’s notebooks. I always make sure to get a printed one rather than use electronic boarding passes. I then printed a photo with my Instax Share printer of my husband and I on the flight. I stamped “snapshot” on the photo with Staz On ink, which I always use on photos to prevent any smearing. I added a few stickers to this page as well.

After our flight, we weren’t quite done with our journey.  We still had a two hour drive down to Eugene from Portland.   We had a little change of plans when we went to pick up our rental car and I wanted to make sure I documented that. I chose the “oh, the places we go” paper for my journaling, using a ruler to draw lines of varying lengths to journal on above the pattern before adding the “eat well, travel often” wood veneer piece above my journaling and a die cut with a car below.

One thing I always make sure to get when we rent a car is a map of the city we’re visiting from the car rental agency. We never actually use the map, with all the map apps on our phones, but I think it’s a great memento.  Sometimes I cut bits and pieces to use in my journals. For this journal however, I decided to make a pocket to place it in. I took the yellow patterned paper, and cut it at and angle, adhering it on the bottom and right edges, leaving the angled side open.  I placed the map in my pocket and added the “let’s go” die cut on top. These pockets are great for memorabilia like maps, pamphlets that open up and other bits that you may not want to have permanently glued into your journals.

On my third layout, I used the airline luggage tags from our checked in suitcases. Luggage tags are another item I always make sure to save and add to my journals.  They contain all your flight information and make a great memento.

My husband and I always seem to come home with more bags than we left with. This trip was no exception.  We left with two and came home with three! I cropped all three luggage tags so they would fit on one page, then added a wood veneer suitcase and the “wander” die cut that matched the luggage tags perfectly.

I chose the diagonal striped paper with the airplane for my last page.  I stamped “work, save, travel, repeat” in between the stripes using the Outline Stanley Jr. Alphabet Stamp. The large blank space at the bottom of the page was the perfect spot to add my journaling, which I kept at the same angle as the stripes above.
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look at my projects! I had so much fun working with the Let’s Go Traveler’s Notebook Kit.  If you haven’t given a traveler’s notebook a try, this is the perfect kit to get started with summer break trips just around the corner.  I can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

Sketch Day with Amanda-jayne Baldwin

We’re back with another fantastic sketch to make your layout design work simple and quick, and our talented and colorful design team member, Amanda is here to share how she interpreted this month’s sketch! Let’s take a look:
Hi Elle’s Studio friends! Welcome back for more gorgeous inspiration with the Elle’s Studio May Kit & add-ons! It’s Amanda here, and for today’s post I am creating a layout from this month’s sketch inspiration, based on the ‘Yes Please’ layout by the super talented Susan Brochu.
Here’s what the sketch looks like:

Awesome, huh?! I’ve followed the sketch pretty closely, but I’m adding my ‘twist’ to it by using super bright colors, & adjusting all the proportions.
Here’s my take on it, a layout titled, “Good Fun!”

Supplies | May 2018 Kit, Arrow Label Stickers, Play All Day Phrase Stickers, Wood Veneer Fun, Title Builder Vol. 2 Wood Veneer, Gold Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers, Puffy Heart Stickers — Spring Mix, Noteworthy Word Labels, Noteworthy Cutouts, Noteworthy Epoxy Stickers, Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection
Good FUN, indeed! This layout records my two darlings on Easter morning eating chocolate bunnies—for breakfast, no less! Living the (chocolate) dream for sure! The bright, playful colors in this month’s kit were perfect for documenting this happy moment, and nothing says fun better than an over sized Wood Veneer Fun title, right?!

That veneer is just awesome, and the woodgrain contrasts beautifully against the rainbow of tags and labels! The ‘good’ wood veneer, found in the Title Builder Vol. 2 Wood Veneer, coordinates beautifully with the May Kit and add-ons, and the two together made the perfect title. Stretching the Wood Veneer Fun across the page and adding the Spring Mix Puffy Heart Stickers between the letters really adds emphasis to this already BIG impact title! So cool! You’ll also spot the Gold Shapes and Dots Puffy Stickers adorning my layout too, to give it that shine.

I love Susan’s clever use of flags in her design. I twisted this idea, by arranging tags and labels into the flag style. I coordinated mine into similar color groups, and aligned each group with the veneer title, for maximum impact! You’ll also spy a few pretties from our new Noteworthy 12″ x 12″ Paper Collection, including that super happy, yellow stripe, pattern paper base. Possibly a new fave of mine! The typewriter font trim beneath my photo cluster is actually the reverse side of the barcode strip from that same pattern paper. Don’t forget to keep those on hand for easy borders!

My photo cluster and layers were created from the 3″ x 4″ and 6″ x 4″ tags in the May Kit, and embellished with some pretty add-ons, including those fabulous Play All Day Phrase Stickers. Beneath these layers, I add a little tissue wrap from my stash to create dimension, texture & interest.

There you have it; my fun take on this fabulous sketch using our May Kit, add-ons & Noteworthy collection. I hope I have inspired you to get creating with these beautiful products! Thanks for visiting!

We’d love to see what you create with this month’s sketch! Share your creation on Instagram and use the hashtag #EllesStudio! You could win a gift certificate to our shop, and be featured here and on the ES Instagram page! We can’t wait to see what you create!

Journaling Three Ways with Jess Forster

We all need a little help getting the important details of our memories recorded—and we all love using our monthly kit contents to do just that! Today, journaling guru, Jess Forster, is sharing three different ways to document your special moments on Elle’s Studio journaling tags! Let’s take a look:

Does the thought of writing or journaling in your pocket page layouts overwhelm you? Are you afraid of missing ALL of the details, that you don’t include ANY of the details? Today, I am sharing how Elle’s journaling cards from the May 2018 Kit are easily customizable to include a variety of your life stories, both big and small formats!

In this double page 9″ x 12″ monthly spread, I have enlarged the 6″ x 8″ photo of my kids playing with our dog Charlie at the beach by the water. The colorful arrow journaling tag from the May Kit, helped to record those small details that I am likely to forget in the years to come. Bullet point journaling for the win! Simple sentences can be your friend, as every picture doesn’t need a written paragraph.

However, if you like stringing together sentences, than consider including a synopsis from the week or month. Here, I used a 3″ x 4″ rainbow colour tag from the May Hello Good Times Printables and simply typed up some of the events or highlights that happened in the white space provided. Your summary doesn’t have to include every single detail; instead, give a flavor for what we were doing over the course of the specific time period you are documenting! Something is better than nothing.

Lastly, if you enjoy very precise facts in your pages, then consider documenting funny conversations you have said or overheard. Using the “That’s my story and I am sticking to it” journaling tag from the May Kit, I included five facts & feeling statements that my daughter made in the month of April. Although I forget when she said these, I can hear the tone in her voice when I read them. Include details that will trigger the memory of that person.

If you are looking to add some simple journaling techniques to your pocket pages, remember that there are many different ways to record your story. I hope this pocket page inspires you to include some of your life’s details whether they are big or small.
Thanks for looking!
